My experience at Make-A-Wish
has been the most rewarding internship I have had during my college career. I was able to work with the Make-A-Wish special
events in the Central & South Texas area and was able to learn so much from it.
My favorite event was the KASE 101 Grant-A-Wish Radiothon in February. I went out to Lakeline Mall for two days and was able to meet Wish Kids and their families, learn about how Make-A-Wish changed their lives, and just see how great they were doing. The kids are such an inspiration to be around and really light up your day. To see Make-A-Wish raise over $323,000 for our kids was so amazing because that meant that at least 64 wishes could be granted this year.
The most amazing part about working for Make-A-Wish is that the staff really becomes a family to you. Everyone on staff has become a mentor to me that has truly cared about my future, what I learn from Make-A-Wish, and where it takes me afterwards. These are people that I know I will be connected to for a long time and that I have come to admire and respect so much.
Make-A-Wish is by far the best internship I could have ever asked for, and I am always telling my friends and family about it. For the past five months, I have eagerly gone to work and been involved in everything that I’ve been able to because the job puts a smile on my face. There was never a day that dragged on too long or brought me down at the office. Every day was rewarding, inspiring, and something that I didn’t want to end.
