"I wish to go to Disney World!"

MarcusWish Kid Marcus is a 4 year old boy from Austin with Leukemia. He told Make-A-Wish Volunteer Wish Granters that his one wish was "to go to Disney World!" Thanks to generous donors, Marcus and his family started the 2008 New Year off with a joyful granting of his wish! Marcus and his siblings met Disney characters and even enjoyed pony rides during his magical trip to Disney World.

Wish Mom Victoria said, "The trip was like a dream. We were treated like royalty and there were new surprises every day we were there. My kids are usually shy, but being at Disney World with kids just like them made them want to participate in activities they normally wouldn’t try, like karaoke singing!"

Donations needed to secure Challenge Matching Grant

Donate now to reach our matching grant goalMake-A-Wish Foundation® of Central & South Texas is proud to announce that its chapter has been awarded a first-time grant from the Make-A-Wish Foundation of America to help alleviate the list of children eligible and waiting for their wish fulfillment.

The grant from the Wish Fulfillment Fund is a two-part grant. The first part is a $50,000 gift to be used immediately to grant the wishes for eligible children who have made their one heartfelt wish, but are waiting for their wish to be granted.

The second part of the grant is a $65,000 challenge matching grant. In order to receive the $65,000, the Central & South Texas Chapter must raise up to $65,000 in new matching dollars specifically in response to this challenge no later than August 1, 2008. Funds will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $65,000.

This is a fantastic opportunity for the Central & South Texas chapter to help eliminate its unfortunate Pending Wish List. Currently, local Wish Children are waiting an average of six months to receive their wish, due to lack of immediate available funds, even with 86 cents of every dollar going directly to wishes. In addition to enabling the chapter to grant its pending wishes, this grant will also allow the chapter to meet its increasing wish referrals from medical professionals.

Please donate to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Central & South Texas chapter today. Help secure the full $65,000 challenge grant and make local wishes come true! Please contact Mary Langdon at 800-880-9474 or mlangdon@centralandsouthtexas.wish.org.
