Trail RideSaturday, May 17, 2008: Third Annual Old Iron Trail Ride - Hondo
The Third Annual Old Iron Trail Ride is set for Saturday, May 17, 2008, to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Central & South Texas. Any tractor, without lug wheels or a/c, made before 1970 and that can run at least 10 mph are eligible to participate in the trail ride. The registration donation is $15 for each tractor and includes a catered lunch at the Devine Community Center for the driver. Anyone not driving a tractor but participating in the ride will be asked for a $10 donation for lunch. Registration forms can be downloaded at http://old-iron-trail-ride.0catch.com/. Saturday, May 17, 2008 – Saturday June 1, 2008: Parade of Homes – Austin
Parade of HomesCheck out the latest in architecture design, interior decorating, pool design and landscape design at the 56th Annual Parade of Homes presented by the Home Builders Association of Greater Austin at the Waters Edge at Rough Hollow in Lakeway, Texas. The tours are open Thursday to Monday between 11am until 8pm beginning Saturday, May 17, 2008, and ending on Saturday, June 1, 2008. Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for The Home Builders Association will be making a donation from the proceeds of this event up to $7,000 to help grant wishes for local area children. Sunday, May 18, 2008: Chantal’s Bistro BBQ Benefit – Georgetown
Chow down on some delicious BBQ at Chantal’s Bistro & Wine Bar, 204 E. 8th Street, Georgetown, Texas, located in the historic Anderson house, on Saturday, May 18, 2008. The event is celebrating the 100-year anniversary of the Anderson house and runs from 2pm – 6pm. Tickets cost $25 for adults and $15 for ages 13 – 18. Children under 12 are free. A third of the proceeds from this event will benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Central & South Texas. Wednesday, May 28, 2008: Starbucks Golf Tournament – Austin

Saturday, June 28, 2008: St. John’s United Methodist Church Softball Tournament – Georgetown
Attention all sports fans - St. John’s United Methodist Church is hosting an all-day softball tournament at the Georgetown Parks and Recreation Department’s McMasters Field in Georgetown on Saturday, June 28, 2008. Team entry fee is $300 and the net proceeds will go to grant a wish for a Williamson County Wish Child. May & June 2008: Llano Estacado Wine Promotion – Austin & San Antonio
It’s that time of year again; Llano Estacado Winery is holding their annual May/June Wine Promotion! During the months of May and June, they donate 20% of their profits from all cases of wine sold in the Austin and San Antonio Areas to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Central & South Texas. Wish Ride 2008Saturday, July 5, 2008: WishRide – San Antonio, Austin, & Gruene
Come out and enjoy the extended Independence Day Weekend on Saturday, July 5, 2008, for the inaugural WishRide, a leisurely motorcycle ride through the beautiful Texas Hill Country to raise awareness and money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Central & South Texas. The ride will start in two locations, Javelina Harley-Davidson in Boerne and Cowboy Harley-Davidson in Austin. Riders and passengers will enjoy a few stops along the way before they arrive at the end of the ride in beautiful New Braunfels at Gruene Harley-Davidson. There will be food, drinks, live music by local bands Beans-N-Rice and 3 Man Front, a Hooters Bike Wash, Best/Worst in Show competition, and caricatures by Adam. Registration cost is $35.00/biker which includes wristband for food & drink at ride end, WishRide T-shirt, (1) raffle prize ticket at each stop (total of 5), and $10/passenger which includes wristband for food & drink at ride end. Passengers can upgrade for the full package for $35.00. Registration starts at 10am with all bikes on the road by 11am. Saturday, July 12, 2008: General Volunteer Orientation & Wish Granter Training – San Antonio
We will be offering a General Volunteer Orientation from 9am– 10am followed by Volunteer Wish Granter Training from 10am - 12pm in San Antonio. Volunteers work in our office, at our events, sometimes attending presentation as a representative of the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and of course as Wish Granters, helping with the child’s wish process. General Volunteer Orientation is required for all volunteers. Volunteer Wish Granter Training is an optional training offered to volunteers who want to be involved with granting Wishes. Donate now to reach our matching grant goalThrough August 1, 2008: Make-A-Wish Foundation of Central & South Texas seeking donations to secure Challenge Matching Grant
Our chapter has been awarded a first-time grant from the Make-A-Wish Foundation of America to help alleviate the list of children eligible and waiting for their wish fulfillment. A portion of the grant is a $65,000 challenge matching grant. In order to receive this part of the grant, the Central & South Texas Chapter must raise up to $65,000 in new matching dollars specifically in response to this challenge no later than August 1, 2008. Funds will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $65,000. Please donate today.
Through August 3, 2008: Midas Donates to the Make-A-Wish Foundation
MidasThinking of getting your car serviced as the summer driving season approaches? Midas will donate $5 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation for every Midas Touch Maintenance Package (MTMP) sold from May 5 to August 3, 2008.

Every Tuesday evening starting at 5pm, Jason’s Deli will donate 5% of the dine-in sales to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Central & South Texas at their Westlake location, 3300 Bee Caves Rd. Ongoing: Things Remembered Year-Round Support of the Make-A-Wish Foundation
Things Remembered accepts customer donations to the Foundation year-round in all of their stores. Customers are asked if they would like to round up their purchase amount to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Support the Make A-Wish Foundation through the Randalls Good Neighbor Program. The next time you buy groceries, tell your cashier to designate Charity #257 on your Randalls discount card, which will mean charitable dollars donated to our chapter.
Ongoing: Frequent Flier Miles Donations
More than half of all wishes granted involve travel. Many airlines have established programs which will allow their frequent fliers to donate miles to the foundation which we can in turn use to fulfill travel wishes. Check the national website to see how you can donate miles to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Ongoing: Planned Giving Opportunities
Planned giving is the opportunity to make a significant difference in the lives of children within the context of your overall financial plan and includes supporting the foundation via bequests/wills, trusts, gifts of stock, life insurance, and gifts of real estate/personal property. Ongoing: Adopt-A-Wish®/Kids for Wish Kids®
The Foundation is interested in approaching businesses, schools, churches and other organizations to "adopt" a wish and would like your assistance. The approximate cost (including administrative expenses) to fulfill a wish is $5000, and there are a number of ways adopters can raise these funds. Visit our current list of wishes available for adoption. We need contacts in the following places: your employer, other businesses, civic/professional groups, schools and churches/synagogues.
